, Volume 3 of Morton Subotnick's Electronic Works contains the last of the analog multi-channel tape pieces to be released on DVD: `4 Butterflies`, created on the Buchla synthesizer, previously only released as a stereo LP. `4 Butterflies` was transferred from the analog master tapes at 96 khz/24-bit and remixed by the composer into 4-channels.
It is presented with the visuals that were projected during its early performances in the 1970s. These original 16mm films have been newly transferred and restored for this DVD.
The DVD also contains a recent electronic work,`Until Spring Revisted`, scored for live electronics, amplified tuned glasses and live video. This recording is from a series of performances in San Francisco, with Subotnick (live electronics), Miguel Frasconi (tuned glasses & live electronics) and Sue-C (live video). The visuals cut between live action and a direct feed of Sue-C's live video. The DVD also contains a new work written for this release for Buchla electronics and video, `A Cloud of Skyless Sulpher: Revisted` performed by Subotnick and Sue-C. ...
